Introduction
I know I'm late
on this review. But as somebody said, "if something could go wrong,
it will". What I don't understand is why it keeps happening to me!..damn!!..
Now enough of that lamenting, the Voodoo5 5500, the much anticipated
3D accelerator has finally arrived. 3dfx is not a new contender
when it comes to the 3D market. With records been shattered by their
Voodoo3 2000 and 3000 AGP boards last year, they were the reigning
leaders in the highly competitive world of 3D graphics performance.
This was last year though. With NVIDIA having introduced three generations
of newer boards 3dfx had no option but to let go of that reign.
With the newer Geforce 2 GTS based boards turning out to be the
hottest selling item in the recent past 3dfx just had to introduce
their new Voodoo5 boards fast enough not to loose market share.
The predecessors of the Voodoo 5 were then considered to be very
fast 3D graphics cards, but they were all severely condemned for
the lack of 32-bit rendering support, where other card manufactures
regarded it as standard practice. So, 3dfx has taken all this criticism
to heart and have come up with the new Voodoo5 5500, which also
supports 32-bit color in 3D gaming. This gets better. So go on reading
