Introduction
It was back
in April that Nvidia introduced their GeForce2 GTS chip set. The
GeForce2 GTS (GF2 hereafter) sure kicked it's competition right
off the field and even the new Voodoo5 5500 is not a threat to the
GF2 cards. The ELSA GLADIAC 32 MB GF2 and the Asus V7700 were the
first cards based on Nvidia's GF2 GPU to enter the market, that
was back in April and we had both these hot shots at our lab to
see for ourselves.
Now with the
2nd generation of GF2 cards with 64MB's of memory swarming the market
(not mentioning the Ultra) and every graphics manufacturer having
a slightly different version of this clone how does one decide what
card to buy?
So, what we
have here is a comparison of four top of the range GF2 cards with
64Megabytes of RAM, put head to head against each other to make
your choice in selection a wheeey bit easier.
Let me introduce
you to the four contenders technoyard got together for this battle
of the giants.
- 3D Prophet
II GTS 64MB
- Siluro GF256
GTS 64MB
- Inno3D Tornado
GeForce2 GTS 64MB
- Elsa Gladiac

It should now
be clear to you what we plan to achieve in this article. So let's
hope that at the end of this lengthy article, we'll be able to point
a finger at a particular board and say, THIS IS THE WINNER.
We somehow managed
to get our hands into another GF2 GTS article didn't we? I could
again delve into the architecture and features of the GF2 GTS GPU,
but that will surely clog my mail account with all that 'fan' mail
and I don't plan on spending this weekend downloading mail!!(* Grin*)
Ok, so this
is how the flow will be. I'll first introduce each board and give
an overview of its special features, changes from the Nvidia reference
design, special cooling solutions if any, overclocking capabilities
etc and based on these findings, finally decide which board should
be crowned the winner.
