Albatron needs no introduction in the graphics card market. Even
though they entered this market just a few years ago, the reputation
they have earned within this short period of time is remarkable. Today
we bring to you one of their latest offerings, the FX5600P Turbo.
Few months ago we reviewed the
Ti4200P Turbo card from Albatron and the overclocking capabilities
of that board made it capable of performing in the range of a Ti4600
board. If the same logic applies here, this card should be able to
perform close to a FX5800. Well may be not quite, but it should at
least stand out of the crowed from other FX5600 cards. Nevertheless
read on to find out where exactly this board placed itself.
The FX5600 series of cards are nVidia's newest additions to the mainstream
market, introduced to compete with ATI's Radeon 9600. The FX5600 GPU
has been implemented with DirectX 9 support, and is offered at a much
lower price point, catering to a larger market. The FX5600 cards are
based on the NV31 GPU, which nVidia claims is capable of bringing
stunning cinematic effects thanks for a number of new features implemented
on these cards. The CineFX engine fully utilizes DirectX 9, Pixel
Shader 2.0, and Vertex Shader 2.0 to bring out stunning visual effects.
The GPU is based on .13 micron technology and it uses DDR-1 memory
to keep costs low. Keeping in line with maintaining a lower cost,
the NV31 core architecture has been reduced to a 4 pixel pipeline.
Nevertheless the FX5600 cards seem to offer quite a lot in return
for what you pay for.
Albatron's Gigi FC5600P Turbo is a more performance oriented card
than the normal FX5600 cards. As mentioned before, from past experience
the Turbo models they release offer some great punch in terms of overclocking
ability, so we hope to see some exciting results from this card. First
lets take a look at the specs and and in-depth look of the card.
