Dual Head 2 Go in detail

The Dual Head 2 Go comes in a very attractive packaging which gives the buyer a good idea of the capabilities of the unit which is great for non technical users.

As you can see the unit can be used on both PCs and Laptops. All you require to power the unit is a spare USB port on the target machine. What's unique about the DualHead2Go is that you can either have 3 different views on each screen or a combination such as one single view on two external screens and another view on the laptop. Effecively you now have 3 screens to work with than 2 in a conventional dual monitor setup.

The package consists of
1 x VGA cable
1 x USB cable
1 x Dual Head 2 Go
1 x User manual and driver CD

Since the Dual Head 2 Go works on certain display cards, Matrox has released a compatibility check utility which will allow you to see if your PC/Laptop is compatible with the device before you go ahead with any purchase. Here's the link to the utility and do download this file and check the compatibility to avoid any disappointment.

Sometimes Matrox may not cover all the display cards on the market on their website, but running the utility will tell you for sure.

Taking a look at the front of the unit you're offered with an analog VGA input, USB power socket and an activity light. Even though an Analog input is used, the Dual Head 2 Go special techniques such as gain compensation and phase adjustments to properly interpret the analog signal to digital.

Going to the rear of the unit you're offered with two digital DVI outputs to connect two digital monitors. The unit uses the converted digital signal and divides it into 2 separate signals which then users can connect two digital monitors into. Throughout the process, no pixels are added, dropped, scaled, or otherwise changed. DualHead2Go Digital Edition preserves all the on-screen information provided by the original monitor signal.

That's pretty much what the Dual Head 2 Go consists of and we were quite surprised how simple yet versatile this little unit is. Build quality is excellent with an all aluminum outer frame which has a matt painted finish. The unit is extremely light weight and takes very limited space, so adding it into your arsenal of accessories carried with your laptop shouldn't be an issue.

The model also comes in an analog version as well as a Triple Head 2 Go Digital version, so depending on your requirement and budget Matrox has catered a solution.

Here’s a view of how exactly the Dual Head 2 Go works its magic.
