The Card
Albatron has done a great job in their box design, it's sure to attract buyers without a doubt. The box is based on the Medusa theme and boy it looks very cool. Albatron seems to adopt this same theme for all their Graphics products. "Looks that Kill" :)
The card itself has a killer look to it. The Albatron GeForce4 Ti 4200P Turbo is built on a blue colored PCB and the most striking feature of the card is it's overly large copper heatsink that sits on the GPU. The card is as large as any GF4 Ti 4600. Albatron has also included silver memory sinks for more stability. However from what I know, these memory heatsinks are used just to attract consumers as in reality they don't heat up to points that require cooling. Nevertheless Albatron has achieved one thing from all of this; the card is one of the nicest looking ones you could get your hands on. It has a very professional look to it, and you cannot differentiate it from any other Ti 4600 card.
The card has support for both VGA monitors and DVI flat panel monitors. Moreover, it includes an s-video out allowing users to get the output onto a TV, giving a richer experience when playing games. It would have been a wiser choice to include two DVI connectors instead of this design and merely provide an adapter for users to use with normal VGA monitors. This is something Albatron should think of in their next release.
Albatron GeForce4 Ti 4200P Turbo comes in two flavors, one which has 128MB memory and the other with 64MB. The card we'll be looking at today is Albatron's 128MB version. There's much debate over the fact that whether this memory increase really affects performance. A while back this didn't prove to be true. However with the introduction of Anti Aliasing and its wide use, the more memory you have the better it is. As you go into higher resolutions in games, we can clearly distinguish this difference since 128MB cards are capable of storing more data for Anti Aliasing than its other counterparts. For hardcore gaming fans, the 128MB model would be a wiser choice than the 64MB version.
