Web Configuration Interface

Unlike most well known brands, the web interface on the WN 5000R isn’t flashy in any sense. It has been designed purely to provide the functions required with no added flare. Personally this really isn’t an issue for me as long as the required functionality is available and working. Upon initial login you will be offered with the following screen.

As you can see the interface is quite plain and straightforward in terms of what’s on offer. For simplicity a “Quick Setup Wizard” is offered for users with less knowledge on these configurations. It goes through the basic setup required to get you online.

For a more customized setup, you need to click on “General Setup” where you can specify the WAN connection type LAN settings etc. Spanning Tree protocol (SPT) is also supported if you plan to use multiple switches in your LAN.  (Note: SPT is used to avoid loops in a network)

Setting up the wireless section is very straight forward as well. In the basic configuration you can select the mode, ESSID, Band, and Channel being used. You can also specify a remote access-point’s MAC address if you’re setting up WDS as we have with our setup. The unit supports multiple wireless modes, so depending on your requirement you have the option to choose one.
