Introduction

CPU cooling has never been important than now due to the array of high end CPU's that are coming out and the range of overclocking options users are offered with. With the introduction of the new 333FSB AMD CPUs, providing adequate cooling to these hungry beasts would be a totally new ball game. So we can expect to see some truly impressive coolers in the near future.

There's so much competition out their in the CPU cooling industry that cooler manufactures thrive in bringing out new technologies to be on top, only to be out smarted by another withing a couple of months. Today we bring to you one such innovative cooler brought to you by TOCOOLS. This cooler was released only a few weeks ago and the main distributor for them in the US will be done by holoMaXx technologies. holoMaXx technologies have been in operation for quite a while now and they offer a range of products from PC components to audio equipment. Go pay them a visit, you'll love what they have in offer.

So what's the big hype about this cooler? Well it's all behind this new technology called "Pyramidal Inside Cutting". Before we spill the beans as to what exactly this technology is all about, lets first take a closer look at the NOVASONIC cooler itself.

Features and Specs:

  • Exclusive Pyramid Extrusion technology for superior cooling efficiency and quiet operation
  • Mirror-Polished base for maximum contact area
  • Fancon - Allows selection of HIGH or LOW fan speeds
  • Size: 80x80x70mm (80x50mm footprint to fit poorly designed motherboards)
  • Fan: 80x80x25mm - 47 CFM / 40 dBA @ 4K RPM
  • Power: 12VDC
  • Application: All AMD and Intel Socket 370 CPUs.

The NOVASONIC cooler holoMaXx sent us is a pre-production model. The only difference between this and the final retail version is that instead of the full 80x80mm footprint of the pre-production model, the retail version will have an 80 x 50 footprint. Footprint refers to the minimum clearance needed around the CPU socket to install it. The footprint has been reduced in the final retail version to ensure that it fits into any Socket A or Socket 370 board without any complications. As they claim, this change will not affect in the performance of the retail model by any degree, so the results you see here will be what you can expect to get.

The NOVASONIC is shipped out in a well designed box protecting it from any harm during transport.
