Setting up the KeyGhost USB/HUB Keylogger Once the installation is complete a default password typed on any word processor or windows notebook will bring up the following menu.
The first thing we did was to change the speed at which the KeyGhost USB/HUB Keylogger types in the characters on screen. Option 7 in the menu allows you to do this. The speed setting goes from 1-10 with 1 being the slowest. If you’re using the KeyGhost USB/HUB Keylogger on an old PC then you’ll have to keep it in a low setting for stability. However newer machines can handle higher speeds and we set ours to 7.
Changing the default password is a matter of selecting option 6 and following the prompts. You will need to select a unique password that you’re unlikely to type when using a word processor and also avoid using passwords you commonly use elsewhere. If you do, it’ll result in KeyGhost Keylogger trying to write the menu data into a username or password box you’re on. If by any chance you forget the password you change to, the unit will have to return the unit to KeyGhost for reprogramming. This is a free service offered by the company; however it’s your responsibility to post the unit to them. Going onto option 8 – stealth settings; you’re offered with 3 options namely Low, Medium and High. By default the KeyGhost Keylogger is on the low stealth setting (Faster Menu Access). You can use the Keylogger at this setting to get accustomed with the menus of the KeyGhost USB/HUB but its hardware profile will be detectable.
Selecting High – Auto Sensing setting (USB Hub and Ghost keyboard only enumerate when required) makes the KeyGhost USB/Hub is invisible and will not be detected by any software scanner. Option 9 on the main menu allows you to select the date/time as well as changing the time stamping internal, and session timeout internal as well. These settings can be changed by you depending on the requirement.
