Introduction It's been only a few months since Athlon 64 CPU's were introduced, CPU cooler manufactures are coming out with their various solutions to cater to the high end performance seekers. Alpha is no newcomer to the CPU cooler industry. A few days back we looked at one of their high end coolers for AMD Athlon/Athlon XP platforms. Click here if you missed this review
There are 3 versions of the PAL 8150, all three varying only by the cooling fan offered. The version we're reviewing today is the PAL 8150T, and this model does not come with a cooling fan directly from Alpha. However, since Alpha does not directly sell to end users, all their distributors include a high powered fan when selling it. The PAL 8150T comes complete with all the required accessories for proper assembly. There are two sets of fan screws provided, one for 15mm fans and the other for 25mm thick fans. One thing to note when attaching a fan to the PAL 8150T is that you need to attach it so that the fan sucks the air out from the cooler, rather than the common way where air is blown into the cooler. Tests have proven that this method provides better cooling performance on the Alpha 8150T.
