Introduction

Over the years, MidiLand has earned a good reputation for their lineup of high-quality multimedia speaker systems for PC's as well as mainstream home applications. Incorporated in the 90's MidiLand has acclaimed prestige and many awards to its name in the speaker industry. A few months ago MidiLand released the S4 7100 Speaker system, which I thought was quite impressive in its price range. In fact I couldn't find any audio system even close to the S4 7100 in this price range capable of producing Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. However the main problem with the S4 7100 Speaker system was that it lacked a Dolby Digital 5.1 decoder. In order to get the true 5.1 surround sound effect a Dolby Digital decoder is a must. Fortunately MidiLand understood their mistakes soon, and now just a few months after the introduction of the S4 7100 system they have unleashed the S4 8200 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound Speaker System. In its price range of around $280, it is by far one of the best 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker Systems ever to enter the market.

The introduction of DVD's a few years back has created an ever-increasing demand for 5.1 DD sound. Sound card manufactures too have joined in this bandwagon, and they are coming out with some great sound cards, which are capable of producing 5.1 DD sound. In the early days sound reproduction was limited to a $40 desktop speaker system, however things have changed by far today. With todays ever increasing demand for power, and quality you won't get a decent system for less than the $200 mark.
