Installation
I'll start off with the front speakers. Once you open up the package you'll notice that at the bottom there are two circular black wooden plates, two circular iron weights and a few nuts and bolts. Place the iron weights on the wooden plates. These are used to secure the front speakers so that they sit upright. The iron weights are around 1.5Kg so it's quite adequate to hold them. One thing I wish Jazz speakers included with this setup is a more detailed manual on all aspects of the installation process. A special tool is used to screw in the nuts to secure the speakers to the plates. Once done they look like this(except that we took the picture after installing the speakers).
The rear speakers are much small than the front ones, however the system comes with iron cast stands so that they don't look out of place. The stands are painted black and blend perfectly with the rest of the system. Installing the stands is pretty much self explanatory, and you'll have to rely on your common sense. (Hope I haven't scared anyone : ). The height of the stands is adjustable to suit your needs. Velcro padding is provided to secure the rear speakers on the stands firmly.
The sub is placed under your table or in a corner of your room. We placed it under a table, but the choices are pretty much limitless. Depending on your room acoustics vary its position until you get a good thump. The center channel which is built into the control box was placed close to the PC monitor. The manual details out to some extent the wiring of the speaker system; however it's not detailed enough for most cases. We mentioned we'll be using the DE-005 Dolby digital decoder in our setup, so setting up 5.1 DD surround sound was pretty straight forward. We used a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy sound card and used the optical digital out and connected it to the Decoder. Thereafter we used the output channels of the decoder to separate the signals accordingly and connected them to the appropriate inputs of the Control Box. Remember you'll need to purchase a few extra cables to do the above, but it's all worth it at the end.
The Din connector in the Control Box connects to the input Din connector of the sub. All speakers connect to the Sub.
Now you're ready for action. Before I talk on the sound quality lets
take a close look at the speakers that make up the J9940.
